Kesha rang in 2025 on ABC, performing her smash “TiK ToK” on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest — and on Jan. 2 she took to social platform X to celebrate the song’s anniversary and the fact that her performance evidently caused people to rush to Spotify to stream the song.
“It was 15 years ago that I got my first #1 song! YALL did that,” she wrote. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 on Jan. 2, 2010, and spent nine weeks at number one.
The post also included a chart showing that streams of the song had increased more than 98% from the previous day. Kesha continued, “And the fact that tiktok had its biggest streaming day EVER yesterday blows my mind. Thank you for supporting my art.”
Referring to “TiK ToK,” Kesha added, “This song is for the wild ones, the party girls, the ones who go too hard and laugh too loud and say too much. I love u. thank you animals!!! Now Alexa play TikTok LOUDER PLEASE.”
During her Rockin’ Eve performance, Kesha also kept to her promise to never again sing the lyric “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy” in light of the accusations against the jailed hip-hop mogul. Instead, she’s been singing, “Wake up in the morning like ‘F*** P. Diddy” — though of course, she just mouthed the word during the TV performance.
