Maui firefighters swiftly tackled a blaze that ignited early Thursday morning in Waiehu, successfully containing it by Friday morning. The fire scorched roughly 25 acres in an area situated mauka of Kahekili Highway near Maka’ala Drive, according to Maui Fire Department officials.

Even though the fire is now fully contained, firefighters will continue to keep a close watch on the area. They will monitor the site and address any remaining hot spots that may still be smoldering within the perimeter.

In a separate incident, a fire erupted at 1:44 p.m. on Friday near the Waiehu Municipal Golf Course. This blaze affected a 50-by-50-foot area and posed challenges due to its difficult-to-reach location. Firefighters had to deploy nearly 200 yards of hose to access and extinguish the flames.

No injuries or structural damage have been reported as a result of either fire. Residents of Maui County are urged to stay alert during the summer brush fire season. For the latest updates and official information, keep an eye on radio, TV, and mobile alerts.
