Wayne Osmond, one of the original members of the Osmond Brothers, has died at the age of 73.

The news was announced on social media by Wayne’s brother Merrill Osmond, who shared that he died after suffering a “massive stroke.”

“My brother was a saint before he came into this world, and he will leave as an even greater saint than he came in,” Merrill wrote. “I’ve never known a man that had more humility. A man with absolute no guile. An individual that was quick to forgive and had the ability to show unconditional love to everyone he ever met.”

He added, “My brother Wayne endured much. He gave it his all. His legacy will go down as someone who was not only a genius in his ability to write music, but was able to capture the hearts of millions of people and bring them closer to God.”

Wayne was the second oldest member of the original Osmond Brothers singers, which began as a barbershop quartet with brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay. They were discovered at Disneyland by Andy Williams‘ father, Jay, and became regulars on The Andy Williams Show.

Their brother Donny later joined the group and they were renamed The Osmonds. His teen idol status helped launch the height of the band’s success between 1971 and 1975. They were occasionally joined by their sister Marie, who became a successful solo artist and duet partner with Donny. The two even got their own variety show, Donny & Marie, which ran from 1976 to 1979.
