At the Golden Globes on Sunday night, two songs from Selena Gomez‘s film Emilia Pérez were nominated for best original song. But Selena says if they’re nominated for the Oscars, she’s not interested in taking the stage to sing them.

At the Golden Globes, the best original song went to “El Mal,” performed in the film by Zoë Saldaña. Selena sings the other nominated song, “Mi Camino.” But when asked by Variety at the Palm Springs International Film Festival 2025 about the possibility of an Oscars performance, Selena said, “I hope that all goes on Zoë.”

Variety responded that Zoë has said she wants both of them to perform both songs at the Oscars, if they’re nominated. Selena replied, “I don’t know if I could. I’m not as … I’m not there. It’s just different.”

Perhaps Selena feels unprepared because like the movie, “Mi Camino” is in Spanish, and that’s not a language she’s completely fluent in. But as Variety points out, she does have some time to get ready — Oscar nominations don’t come out until Jan. 17 and show itself airs March 2 on ABC.

Selena was nominated for Golden Globes for her performances in Emilia Pérez and Only Murders in the Building, but went home empty-handed. To add insult to injury, she and her fiancé, Benny Blanco, were also the butt of one of host Nikki Glaser‘s jokes. Glaser said, “Selena is here tonight with her new fiancé, Benny Blanco, and Benny Blanco is here because of the genie who granted him that wish.”
